Exemption from Licensure for K3, K4 and K5
The early education classes of Roanoke Valley Christian Schools (K3, K4, & K5) have religious exemption from licensure and qualify because the schools' program is accredited by a statewide accrediting organization (ACSI) that is recognized by the State Board of Education (VAC 15-30-10, #12,; 63.2-1715 Code of Virginia). This exemption is available to religious institutions when the proper inspections have been completed and documents relating to daily operation have been submitted. This information will be on file with the Virginia Department of Social Services, Division of Licensing Program.
Therefore, RVCS voluntarily complies with the state licensing requirement. The program commits to ongoing monitoring to maintain compliance with state licensing. The program communicates its exempt status to enrolling parents in writing (RVCS Family-School GUide and RVCS website) explaining its commitment to ongoing self-monitoring for compliance.
